About Davy Holt – Camanabout-1

Born in Dumfriesshire, Davy has lived in the Highlands since 2004. His music career began at the age of 7 when he first sang on stage with Scottish Folk Duo Gaberlunzie. Davy released his first album ‘Keeping Folk Alive’ at the age of 12 and has went on to record a further 6 albums. During his career he has performed throughout Scotland, Europe and North America. Since forming Caman with Stuart, Davy’s song-writing has flourished and their debut album ‘Caman’ contains a number of Davy’s own songs. In his spare time Davy can be found somewhere in the Highlands climbing the many hills and mountains.

Stuart first picked up the accordion at the age of 12. After a few years learning the trade he joined popular Scottish Folk Band Schiehallion, of which he is still a member. With Schiehallion he has recorded two albums and in 2010 he released his first solo album ‘The Grit That Makes the Pearl’ with Hugh Marwick. Stuart is an accomplished tune writer, many of his compositions appear on Caman’s debut album. When he doesn’t have an accordion in his hands Stuart is a Shinty goalkeeper for Glenurquhart Camanacach Club and the Scotland International Team.
